Symptoms

When installing or uninstalling the following error message is displayed.

Error 2738. Could not access VBScript run time for custom action.

Cause

This error message indicates that the VBScript engine is not currently registered on the machine where the install/uninstall is taking place.

How to fix Error 2738 when installing programs.

What causes an error 2738? This error when we try to install programs on our computer that running Microsoft Vista.

Error 2738. Could not access VBScript run time for custom action.

Error 2738 is a critical Windows error and is caused by a corrupt registry entry that should be repaired immediately to prevent further corruption in other applications and/or hardware. Risks include hardware failure, blue screen errors and fatal crashes.

Error 2738 symptoms include program lock ups, shut down or start up problems, slow pc performance, sluggish behaviour, screen freeze, beeping sounds, problems opening documents as well as issues during software installation.

Download Ccleaner and install, then run Reg Cleaner. Also run any spyware/adware that you may have, I suggest Spybot Search & Destroy, it is free.
